8 slices of bread, cubed
6 large eggs
2 cups milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and spread the cubed bread evenly in the dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan evenly over the top.
Distribute the crumbled bacon evenly over the cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the eggs are set.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before garnishing with fresh parsley.
Serve warm and enjoy.
Variations & Tips
For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and add sautéed mushrooms or spinach for an earthy flavor. If you prefer a spicier kick, consider adding diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the egg mixture. For a different cheese profile, substitute the cheddar and Parmesan with Gruyère or Monterey Jack. This recipe is also adaptable to using leftover bread, such as baguette or sourdough, which can enhance the texture and flavor.
