Be careful: if you find a blank piece of paper in your mailbox, it could mean this

You come home from work or after a weekend away, open the mailbox and find – among bills and advertisements – a completely blank sheet of paper. Sometimes it’s folded in half, sometimes only half-inserted into the inbox. There’s nothing on it. No message, no advertisement.

Your first reaction? To think it’s a mistake by the mailman or a child’s joke, and throw it in the trash.
That could be a serious mistake.

This seemingly innocent piece of paper is sometimes used as a tool by burglars . It acts as a silent marker. If you find one, it could mean that your home has been checked by criminals.

Here’s what you need to know – and how to protect your home.👇🏼

The attendance test: a simple but effective method (1/4)
Contrary to popular belief, most burglaries are not random. They are planned. Burglars are looking for one thing above all else: the absence of risk . They want to be sure that the home is empty.

The “white paper” method (sometimes replaced by a piece of plastic or an object placed under the doormat) is used to check if someone is home. The principle is simple: someone places the object visibly in the mailbox or in the crack of the door.

If the paper is still there after 24–48 hours, it means that no one has picked up the mail or opened the door. For thieves, the signal is clear: the home is unoccupied .
